Spill the (coffee) beans, it might add to your home’s value

A fire pit is just one of several relatively inexpensive ways to add value to your home.

In our last issue we featured an article about small, relatively inexpensive things you can do to help your house sell more quickly such as declutter, wash windows, and switch up dated cabinet pulls.

We recently read an article in House Beautiful Magazine that had a few more clever ideas that will help you boost your home’s value.

A Beverage Center

While you may have a home bar stocked with wine and other alcohol, the updated twist for this area is to add a coffee station and other non-alcoholic drinks. This is especially of interest to younger buyers who are drinking less than in prior decades. According to House Beautiful, when this feature is mentioned in a home’s listing, the home can sell for nearly 2.5 percent higher.

A Firepit

A fire pit can double as a table.

A firepit turns your outdoor area into a space that can be used all year. According to the experts interviewed by House Beautiful, a listing with this feature is shared over 20 percent more than listings without one.

Outdoor Shed

Although most sheds are used for storage, you can easily use one for a gym, yoga studio or an extra office.  Some compies offer prefab sheds that ship quickly and can be assembled easily. Adding usable square footage to your property can add to your home’s eventual selling price.
